Alzheimer's and Dementia Care in Cherry Hill, NJ
Caring for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia is one of the hardest things a family can go through. The person you love is still there, but the disease changes everything — routines, conversations, safety, sleep. At Comfort Keepers of Cherry Hill, we've walked this road with hundreds of families across Camden County and Burlington County, and we understand what you're dealing with.
Our memory care services are built around one simple idea: meeting your loved one where they are today, not where they were six months ago. That means caregivers who are trained specifically in dementia care, who know how to redirect without arguing, who can turn a frustrating moment into a calm one, and who genuinely enjoy spending time with the people they care for.
How We Help at Each Stage
Alzheimer's and dementia don't stay the same — they progress. What your family needs in the early stages is very different from what you'll need later on. We adjust our care as the condition changes:
Early stages: Gentle reminders, help staying organized, companionship, and making sure medications are taken on time. Many families at this point just need someone checking in a few times a week to keep things on track.
Middle stages: This is where things often get harder for families. Wandering becomes a real concern. Bathing and dressing get more complicated. Sundowning can make evenings stressful. Our caregivers are trained to handle all of this with patience and without rushing — because rushing someone with dementia only makes things worse.
Later stages: When around-the-clock supervision becomes necessary, we provide live-in care and 24-hour care options. Many families in South Jersey choose live-in care at this stage because consistency matters so much — the same familiar face, the same routine, the same calm presence every day.
What Makes Our Dementia Caregivers Different
Not every caregiver is the right fit for memory care. It takes a specific kind of patience and a genuine connection. Our Alzheimer's caregivers receive specialized training in communication techniques, redirection strategies, and creating safe environments. But beyond the training, we look for caregivers who have the temperament for this work — people who are naturally calm, flexible, and don't take things personally when the disease makes someone say or do things they don't mean.
Keeping Your Loved One Safe at Home
Safety is always the biggest concern for families dealing with dementia. We help with practical things like removing trip hazards, managing door and window safety, establishing consistent routines, and making sure your loved one isn't left alone when they shouldn't be. The goal is to keep them in familiar surroundings for as long as safely possible — because home is where they're most comfortable, and comfort matters enormously when memory is fading.

Nurse-Led Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care
Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia requires specialized training and clinical oversight. At Comfort Keepers of Cherry Hill, our Registered Nurse conducts a comprehensive cognitive, behavioral, and home safety assessment before care begins — evaluating wandering risks, door and window security, lighting, and environmental triggers. Just as importantly, our nurse takes time to learn what brings your loved one joy — the music they love, the activities that light them up, the routines that bring comfort — so we can build a care plan centered on quality of life, not just safety.
The RN works closely with your loved one’s neurologist or primary care physician, and can attend medical appointments to share daily care observations that help doctors make better-informed decisions. With 30-day check-ins and a new plan of care every 60 days, our nurse ensures care adapts as the disease progresses.
Our caregivers are trained through Comfort Keepers’ Positive Pathways™ program — a person-centered approach to dementia care that goes beyond task-based caregiving. Through Positive Pathways, our CHHAs learn to engage your loved one mentally, emotionally, and physically through activities tailored to their interests and abilities. They’re trained in gentle communication, redirection techniques, and creating calm, structured routines — all focused on sparking moments of connection and preserving your loved one’s sense of self.
