Scott Van Duinen is the President and Administrator of several locally owned and operated Comfort Keepers offices in North Texas and Oklahoma, bringing a strong business background and a deeply personal commitment to improving the lives of seniors and their families.

After a 20-year career in investment management, Scott became a small business owner in 2018 with the goal of making a more meaningful impact in the lives of others. Personal experiences with cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and other conditions affecting loved ones led him to explore the home care industry and ultimately to Comfort Keepers.

A CPA with a master’s degree in entrepreneurial finance, Scott combines his business and financial experience with a passion for health, wellness, and helping older adults remain active, connected, and independent. He was especially drawn to Comfort Keepers’ approach to caregiving and its focus on helping seniors live their best lives at home.

A Texas native, Scott has called North Texas home for more than 30 years. He and his wife, Christy, are raising three sons and share strong values centered around faith, family, education, and community.

As President and Administrator, Scott is committed to building strong teams, supporting caregivers, and ensuring the seniors and families served by his Comfort Keepers offices receive compassionate, uplifting care that helps them maintain independence and quality of life at home.

James Kates

Director of Operations

James Kates is a dedicated leader in business operations and employee management, with a proven track record of optimizing processes, enhancing workforce performance, and driving organizational success. With extensive experience across healthcare, service operations, and military leadership, he brings a results-driven approach to operational efficiency and professional development.

Currently serving as the Director of Operations at Comfort Keepers, James oversees business functions to ensure top-tier service delivery in home care. His previous roles include Lead Director of Service Operations at CVS Health and a distinguished career as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army, where he honed his leadership, logistics, and strategic planning expertise. His professional background also includes contributions to CVS Healthcare, Aetna Healthcare, and the U.S. Army, reinforcing his deep understanding of structured operations and people-focused leadership.

James holds an MBA from Arizona University, an MA from American Military University, and a BS from Troy University. He is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, with additional Green, Yellow, and White Belt certifications, showcasing his commitment to process improvement and operational excellence. His skills extend across data analytics, lean business management, and professional career development, all of which have contributed to his reputation as a strategic problem-solver and mentor.

Recognized for his academic and professional achievements, James is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu Social Science Honor Society, and Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society. His expertise has been highlighted in the National Distribution of GI Jobs, and he has contributed to global discourse through his published article, China’s Foreign Aid, featured in Global Review.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, James is passionate about giving back to the community and has dedicated years of volunteer service to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). A lifelong learner and advocate for personal and professional growth, he finds fulfillment in mentoring others and celebrating their success. When he's not leading operations or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with his family and cheering on his favorite MLB team—Go Stros!

Brad Mullen

General Manager

As General Manager of Comfort Keepers, Brad oversees daily operations to help ensure clients receive dependable, high-quality care that supports independence and well-being in the home. He works to maintain strong communication, coordinated service delivery, and a positive experience for both clients and the teams responsible for their care.

Brad’s background includes senior leadership experience within a major health system, where he led multi-site operations across patient access, clinical respiratory care, and logistics. He has managed complex workflows, supported service delivery across departments, and maintained regulatory compliance in fast-paced healthcare environments.

He is skilled in process improvement, KPI analysis, and cross-functional collaboration, allowing him to identify opportunities to strengthen operations and improve consistency. Brad also has extensive experience developing and supporting teams, fostering accountability, and promoting a culture focused on continuous improvement and service excellence.

Outside of his professional work, Brad is actively involved in his community. He volunteers at his church through the golf cart ministry and participates in various events throughout the year. He and his wife enjoy traveling in their RV, especially to the mountains of Colorado and other scenic destinations across the country.

Jessica Clayton

Jessica Clayton serves as the HR Generalist for Comfort Keepers offices in Oklahoma City, Duncan, and Enid. Since joining Comfort Keepers in 2018, Jessica has been dedicated to ensuring seniors receive compassionate, high-quality care that allows them to thrive in the comfort of their own homes.

Jessica began her journey with Comfort Keepers as an internal Client Care Coordinator, where she supported families and helped tailor care plans to meet each client's unique needs. Her role soon expanded to include scheduling and regional recruiting, where she developed a strong, reliable team of caregivers and improved coordination across multiple locations.

With a passion for senior care and a commitment to professional growth, Jessica earned her Home Care Administrator license through Moore/Norman Technology Center. Today, she leads with a hands-on approach, overseeing operations and ensuring that every aspect of care—from caregiver training to client satisfaction—meets the highest standards of excellence.

Before joining Comfort Keepers, Jessica worked for a group of neurosurgeons for six years, handling scheduling, insurance authorizations, and disability paperwork. Her career began in pharmacy as a technician for CVS, where she built a strong foundation in healthcare and customer service.

Outside of work, Jessica is a proud mother of two boys, ages 18 and 20. Her youngest is set to graduate high school this year. As a family, they share a love for sports—especially wrestling—and enjoy spending time together cheering from the sidelines.

It shaped part of who I am, And the way I work with Comfort Keepers help me on believing that they deserve the quality care as they age. As a recruiter, My mission is to bridge the gap between families in need and to source for high-quality caregivers ensuring them with essential support and genuine empathy they deserve. To provide the same level of quality I would like and wanted for my own family.

Dennis Taylor

Scheduler

I’m Dennis, part of the scheduling team here at Comfort Keepers. I’ve found that I do my best work when it directly helps people, and this role gives me that every day. Making sure clients are supported and caregivers are set up for success. There’s something meaningful about keeping things steady behind the scenes so care can happen without gaps or stress.

Caregiving has always been close to me, so I have a lot of respect for the work our caregivers do. In my role, I focus on being dependable, responsive, and making sure schedules are handled smoothly, knowing that each shift we coordinate supports both the client and the caregiver.
