We Help Seniors With:
Maybe you only need a few hours. That's how most families start with us: somebody to help Mom shower safely on Tuesday mornings, a hot meal made, the laundry done and the sheets back on the bed before we leave. Our caregivers handle the daily things that have gotten hard. Dressing, bathing, grooming, meals, light housekeeping, medication reminders.
What families notice, though, is the part they didn't call about. The conversation over lunch. Somebody who knows how she takes her coffee and notices when a routine feels off. Isolation wears a person down, and good company brings them back. Our Pitman caregivers keep your loved one engaged and living on their own terms, in their own house. Start with a couple of hours a week. If the needs grow, we grow with them.

Tailored Care, Personal Touch
In-home senior care should be as unique as the person receiving it. Whether it's temporary respite care, veterans care, part-time, full-time, or live-in care, we provide the help a life well-lived requires. Our senior care team will sit down with you to craft a care plan that meets your loved one's needs and fits comfortably within your budget.
Dedicated Caregivers for an Enriched Lifestyle
Our caregivers are trained professionals and warm companions at the same time. Each one is thoroughly screened and committed to helping seniors stay mentally and physically active.
Open Communication for Peace of Mind
We know how important it is to keep family members in the loop. Regular communication is the heart of how we work. We give you regular updates on how your loved one is doing, so you can rest easy knowing they're getting the care they need.
We see ourselves as your partner in your loved one's care, available part-time or full-time as your needs change. Our goal is a home where aging is celebrated and your loved one feels cherished.
24/7 Rapid Response On-Call
A fall at two in the morning. A caregiver out sick before a Monday shift. A family member flying in from out of state who needs the whole week rearranged. These things happen outside office hours, and they are exactly when a phone call needs to reach a person.
Our after-hours line is staffed by our own employees, people who know the schedules and can change them. If a caregiver cannot make a shift, we cover it. If your loved one has a fall or an unexpected hospital visit, we respond. If something changes tonight and the schedule has to change with it, we handle it before morning.
Now Offering Positive Pathways™
Caregivers with Comfort Keepers of Pitman have completed training in Positive Pathways™, a program built to support seniors experiencing memory loss related to Alzheimer's or dementia. The training gives caregivers added insight into how memory changes affect behavior, mood, and daily routines. They learn ways to offer reassurance, keep routines consistent, and encourage familiar activities that help seniors feel grounded.
Positive Pathways™ also teaches caregivers to respond thoughtfully to moments of confusion or restlessness, which helps create a calmer home. Seniors stay in familiar surroundings with steady support that respects their dignity and comfort.

At Comfort Keepers of Pitman, our mission is to elevate the human spirit. That starts with understanding your loved one. It begins with a complimentary consultation call with Kyra, our intake coordinator, or one of our other staff members. She listens to what's going on, answers your questions, and follows up with a written preliminary service plan, so you can see what care would look like before you decide anything. There's no pressure and no obligation. Just a conversation about what your family needs. And if your loved one does better with a friendly face than a phone call, we're happy to come do the consultation right in the home.
Once you choose Comfort Keepers, our knowledgeable Registered Nurse, Lynn Guice, RN, goes to the home for a full clinical assessment covering physical health, cognitive function, mobility, and medication needs, plus a home safety evaluation of fall risks, lighting, bathroom access, and mobility paths. Lynn also listens for what brings your loved one joy. The hobbies, routines, and connections that make life worth living become part of the care plan, not an afterthought. If your loved one is in the hospital or a rehab facility, including Inspira Medical Center Woodbury, Jefferson Washington Township, or Jefferson Cherry Hill, Lynn can meet your family right there and begin the assessment before they ever come home.
Our clinical program is led by our seasoned Director of Nursing, Carol Feliciano, RN, BSN, who brings more than 30 years of nursing experience and oversees care delivery across our South Jersey offices. Carol works alongside Lynn to see that every plan of care meets the highest clinical standards, and that families always have experienced nursing leadership behind their loved one's care.
Our caregivers are Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs) who complete extensive training before entering a client's home: safe transfer techniques, dementia care, fall prevention, nutrition, and emergency response. Because every client is different, Lynn matches each caregiver to your loved one's specific needs and personality. And from the moment you call, you're assigned a dedicated Client Care Coordinator, your single point of contact for scheduling, questions, and any changes in care.
Families in Pitman, Washington Township, Sewell, Deptford, Mullica Hill, Williamstown, and throughout Gloucester County trust Comfort Keepers because great care is about more than tasks on a checklist. It's about preserving dignity, encouraging independence, and lifting spirits every single day.
Locally Owned. Community Focused.
Jim became a Comfort Keepers owner in April 2013, partnering with his wife, Anne Hamilton Winn, an Occupational Therapist. His decision was strongly shaped by caring for his own father during a difficult cancer journey that required 24-hour support. He knows firsthand the impact quality in-home care can have on a family.
When Jim acquired the agency from its previous owners, who had served the community well before him, he built on a strong foundation. Since then, his focus has stayed the same: deliver a high standard of care and keep improving the client experience. Jim finds the greatest fulfillment in meeting with clients, helping others, and making a real difference in their daily lives.
Jim is a recipient of the Heart of Comfort Keepers Award, given to franchise owners who demonstrate outstanding compassion, leadership, and dedication to elevating the lives of seniors and their families.
Accredited and Award-Winning Home Care
Comfort Keepers of Pitman is accredited by the National Institute for Home Care Accreditation (NIHCA), a distinction earned by meeting rigorous standards for quality, safety, and professionalism. Cherie Rath
General Manager
Cherie has been with Comfort Keepers since 2011, more than a decade overseeing every part of how this office runs. Before home care, she spent 16 years as an Assistant Operations Manager at a large financial brokerage firm. That background in precision and accountability is exactly what she brings here. Cherie oversees training, clinical oversight, and team performance, and takes personal pride in making sure every family feels confident in their loved one's care.

Lynn Guice, RN
Client Care Nurse
Lynn grew up right here in Pitman. After earning a BS in education and teaching for six years, she went to nursing school at Gloucester County College and became a licensed RN. She worked in a traumatic brain injury unit, then spent 22 years in long-term care. When her own father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she spent two years as his primary caregiver. That firsthand experience shapes everything Lynn does. She conducts client assessments, completes insurance evaluations, and performs skill reviews with our Home Health Aides. When you become a client, Lynn is the clinical expertise behind your care plan.

Amanda Soto
Human Resources Coordinator
Amanda started as a Companion caregiver, going into clients' homes and doing the work firsthand. She earned her CHHA certification through Comfort Keepers and was named Comfort Keeper of the Month after completing over 500 service hours in her first six months. The office team nominated her to move into administration in 2021, and she was promoted to Human Resources Coordinator in 2024. Because she's been a caregiver herself, Amanda hires with a rare eye. She knows what the job demands, what families need, and what it takes to show up for someone when it matters most.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Care
Does a Registered Nurse oversee my loved one's care at Comfort Keepers of Pitman?
Yes. Every care plan is developed under the clinical leadership of Carol Feliciano, RN, BSN, our Director of Nursing, and carried out day to day by Lynn Guice, RN. Once you become a client, Lynn conducts a full clinical assessment, including a home safety evaluation, and creates a personalized plan of care. From there, Lynn checks in every 30 days and develops a completely new plan of care every 60 days. This clinical oversight is part of our standard care, not an add-on or upgrade.
What happens when I first call Comfort Keepers?
We start with a complimentary consultation call. Kyra, our intake coordinator, or one of our staff members listens to your situation, answers your questions, and follows up with a written preliminary service plan. There's no pressure and no obligation. Some seniors need to meet a friendly face before anything else, and that's fine too. We'll come to the home and have the conversation there. Once you choose Comfort Keepers, our Registered Nurse, Lynn Guice, RN, goes to the home for a full clinical assessment covering physical health, cognitive function, mobility, medication needs, and home safety, including fall risks, lighting, and bathroom access. From that evaluation, Lynn develops a detailed plan of care and matches your loved one with the right caregiver.
Does Medicare pay for home care in New Jersey?
Usually not for ongoing care, and this surprises many families. Medicare coverage for home care is typically temporary, about 28 days, and only a few days a week, tied to a skilled need after a hospital stay. We work in conjunction with Medicare when it applies, but it is not the primary way families pay for ongoing care. Most of our families use private funds, long-term care insurance, or the VA Aid and Attendance benefit for qualifying veterans and surviving spouses. Call us and we'll walk through the payment options that fit your situation. If your loved one has a long-term care policy, bring it to the call and we'll help you put it to work.
How are your caregivers trained and supervised?
All of our caregivers are Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs). They complete state-required certification plus additional Comfort Keepers training in companion care, personal care, dementia care techniques, safe transfers, fall prevention, and emergency response. Once on assignment, Lynn Guice, RN checks in every 30 days to supervise caregiver performance and assess your loved one's well-being, under the oversight of Carol Feliciano, RN, BSN, our Director of Nursing.
How often is my loved one's plan of care reviewed and updated?
Lynn Guice, RN checks in every 30 days and develops a brand-new plan of care every 60 days. Each one is a fresh clinical assessment, so the plan always reflects your loved one's current needs. If there's a health event like a fall, hospitalization, or new diagnosis, Lynn reassesses right away and adjusts the plan with your loved one's physicians and your family.
Can your nurse attend doctor's appointments or meet us at the hospital?
Yes. This is one of the things families value most. Lynn Guice, RN can go with your loved one to doctor's appointments, giving physicians daily care observations and advocating on your loved one's behalf. If your loved one is being discharged from Inspira Medical Center Woodbury or another facility, Lynn can conduct the initial assessment right there, coordinating with discharge planners for a smooth, safe transition home.
What makes Comfort Keepers of Pitman a strong choice in Gloucester County?
Two clinical professionals stand behind every care plan: Lynn Guice, RN, who manages it, and Carol Feliciano, RN, BSN, our Director of Nursing, who oversees it. Lynn checks in every 30 days, creates a new plan of care every 60 days, conducts home safety evaluations, and can attend doctor's appointments with your loved one. Our caregivers are Certified Home Health Aides with training well beyond the state requirement. And we're locally owned and operated, serving families in Pitman, Washington Township, Sewell, Deptford, Mullica Hill, Williamstown, and throughout Gloucester County. Call us at (856) 582-1054 and see for yourself.
How to Transition a Loved One to In-Home Care in Pitman, NJ
Moving a loved one to in-home care involves practical steps and emotional ones. This guide helps families move forward with confidence and clarity. Comfort Keepers has earned multiple Best of Home Care Provider of Choice and Employer of Choice awards from 2014 through 2022, reflecting a long-standing commitment to families across the community.
What are the first practical steps in transitioning to in-home care?
Begin with an open discussion with your loved one about their needs and preferences. Assess the level of support required: help with daily routines, companionship, or both. Involving your loved one in these conversations builds trust and lowers anxiety about the change. Gather recommendations from local professionals and friends who have experience with in-home care.
How should the home be prepared and the caregiver selected?
You don't have to figure this out alone. When our nurse does the assessment, she walks through the home with you and helps you make it safe for both your loved one and the caregiver: clear walkways, grab bars where they're needed, a comfortable space set up for care.
Caregiver selection is our work too. Your Client Care Coordinator matches our caregiving staff to your loved one's needs, and our nurse makes sure it's the right match based on skill set, personality, and geographic location.
How can families plan routines and support ongoing well-being?
Work with the caregiver to build a daily schedule that suits your loved one's lifestyle: medication reminders, meal planning, exercise, and time for hobbies or visits. Keep communication open and flexible, and adjust the routine as needs change. Regular check-ins with your Client Care Coordinator help keep both the client and the family satisfied with how care is going.
What emotional guidance helps during this transition?
Let your loved one share any fears about receiving care at home, and talk about them openly. Point to the positives: familiar surroundings, personalized support, and keeping their independence. Stay involved during the first weeks, visit often, and encourage friendships and social engagements. We don't expect Day 1 to be perfect. The first week or two is a settling-in period while the caregiver learns your loved one's routines, and families who know that going in are usually delighted by week three.
Take each step thoughtfully, combining careful planning with open communication. With the right support, families can turn a challenging transition into an empowering one, creating a secure and nurturing home for their loved one. Contact us today to talk through in-home care in Pitman.
